Step 1: Apply to Capital University

Applying to Capital as a transfer student is straightforward and convenient. We value the work you've already done and make it easy to take the next step in your academic career. Your admission application doubles as your scholarship application, so there’s no need to worry about a separate process.

Step 2: File Your FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens in December. To be considered for need-based aid and awards, you’ll need to submit the FAFSA annually. It’s an essential part of maximizing your financial aid package. Use Capital University’s school code: 003023 when you apply.

Step 3: Discover Your Scholarships and Aid

At Capital, it all starts with the Main Street Scholarship. This award guarantees a minimum of $20,000 per year and is awarded to all full-time students pursuing their first bachelor's degree. But that’s just the beginning.

The Main Street Scholarship

This is Capital’s foundational award for all admitted, full-time students. The best part? It’s renewable for up to eight semesters, giving you a strong financial start as you continue your college journey. Use the table below to see your total award amount based on your cumulative GPA.

Explore Additional Awards

Beyond the Main Street Scholarship, you may qualify for various other awards that can further reduce your education costs:

  • ROTC: Up to full tuition with room and board (cannot be combined with the Comet Community Award). Based on merit, leadership potential, and physical aptitude.
  • Conservatory Performance Award: Up to $5,500 applied to tuition per year. Audition-based award for full-time Bachelor of Music or Bachelor of Arts in Music majors.
  • Music Composition Scholarship: Up to $3,500 applied to tuition per year. For full-time Conservatory of Music composition majors, based on portfolio evaluation.
  • Sibling Award: $1,000 tuition award per year for students with a full-time traditional undergraduate sibling enrolled at Capital.
  • Lutheran Heritage Grant: $1,000 tuition award per year for members of a Lutheran congregation or children of a Lutheran pastor.
  • Partners in Education: Up to $500 tuition award per year, matched by Capital to contributions made by a Lutheran congregation.
